Le prince de Galles et son frère Andrew qui ont été les deux successeurs immédiats de leur mère à leur naissance ont fait des mariages renforçant la liste des rois d’Angleterre dans la descendance de leurs enfants.

La feue princesse de Galles, Diana Spencer, descendait par quatre fois du roi Charles I Stuart.

Sa cousine au 5ème degré Sarah Fergusson descendait 6 fois de Charles II.

Depuis la Glorieuse Révolution de 1688, aucun descendant du roi décapité Charles I Stuart ne s’est assis sur le trône de Grande-Bretagne à cause de l’Act of Settlement de 1701. Mais le prince William, s’il monte sur le trône, réincoporera ces ancêtres dans la galerie du sang royal.
